I have worked with disabled people throughout my Social Work career which began in 1978. Latterly this was with a specialist team in the London Borough of Southwark supporting families with a severely/profoundly disabled child/children and this is where my interest in the Makaton Language Programme began several years ago.  My work is now teaching Makaton with the overall  aim of improving the quality of life and outcomes for people with communication difficulties.

For the most part, I teach the Makaton Language Programme to professionals, parents and carers who want to learn about Makaton and to use Makaton Signs and Symbols accurately and with confidence. Occasionally, I also work directly with Makaton users on specific projects.

My Makaton workshops take place at the offices of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH), St Saviour's House, 39/41 Union Street, London SE1 1SD close to London Bridge Station and Borough Tube Station  These workshops are advertised on this web site and also on the website of the Makaton Charity, www.makaton.org

Your Makaton workshops.  Because I work independently and can be flexible about my time and travel, I am able to offer a range of approved Makaton Workshops on site, both inside and outside the London area.  For example, if your organisation has a group/groups, of 10-16 people interested in learning Makaton and you have suitable training facilities, I can provide the equipment and resources to deliver Makaton training at your own venue.  This can be the most economic way of providing training.
